Update for the Scrapbook Expo Fan Pin Swap

5:47 PM 2 Comments

Hello Fan Pinners! It looks like we have some interest and I am so excited to have another amazing event to do at the Expo! I got a head start on my pins this weekend for the swap, and if you want spoilers for my pin, keep an eye out for a new blog post coming soon!

Just a reminder, you must click 'Going' to this event here so we know you're actually participating. Being a member of the Pin Swap Facebook group does not mean that you're participating, so please head on over and sign up for the actual event if you haven't already. Sign up by August 9th, 2019 to guarantee a spot to swap and to give everyone some time to work on their pins.

As of 7.12.19 we have 15 confirmed attendees. If you want to get a head start on your pins, I think making 20 pins would probably be a decent estimate. If we don't wind up with many more people involved, you can always swap with other Pinners you may find on the show floor throughout the day.

Current List of Pinners Swapping:

  1. Desiree D.
  2. Kattya B.
  3. Yani G.
  4. Dervin S.
  5. Joe M.
  6. Allison A.
  7. Jennie P.
  8. E Lorraine C.
  9. Dawn G.
  10. Colleen M.
  11. Sara R.
  12. Stephanie C.
  13. Betty L.
  14. Janet B.
  15. Claudia P.

The swap will be Friday, August 23rd at 6:30 p.m. The Show floor closes at 6 on Friday so you should have time to get your swap and meet up with us. The location is going to be announced the day before by one of the Admins--Dervin, Joe or myself. It will likely be close to the crop entrance and a sign will be made.

We've had a few questions about the pins, so to clarify, these pins should be unique to you. The Expo Crew's pins are special to them and your pin should tell us a little about you. Whether it be your favorite color, something you are passionate about, a cute saying or something you like to create with, your pins should be something that inspires you. You can certainly use the color scheme of The Expo or even make a knockoff pin (Joe! lol), but it is not required. However, please make all of your pins similar, so we all get the same thing.

Some tips for making your pin:

  • If using paper for your pin, back it with cardboard or a few cereal boxes cut down to size to ensure it's sturdy enough for the pin to be worn
  • Attach your pin to a business or calling card, or write your name on the back so we know who it was from
  • There are many different types of pins from traditional clasp backs to butterfly clutch pins. Use what you have or get some that are inexpensive
  • If using hot glue be careful leaving it in your car-- it will likely melt! Instead use E600, epoxy or crazy glue

Fan Pin Swap at Edison, NJ

7:46 PM 3 Comments

The hubby and I are getting super excited for our favorite time of year: The Stamp and Scrapbook Expo! We plan for the Expo all year. He loves volunteering and I love to take classes, crop and shop! The two of us have a friendly competition to see who can collect more buttons--- And I've figured out how I am going to win this year: A PIN SWAP! Please note that this is not affiliated with the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo.

Please join me and make new friends. We plan to swap between 10-20 pins per group, depending on how large this event gets. Lets meet up after the show floor closes.

Here is how to get in on the fun:

1. Join the Facebook group. Fan Pin Swap Facebook Page.

2. Click "going' to the event by August 9th, 2019. This ensures we can divide into groups and have enough time to create our pins.

3. After the groups are made you will be tagged and be able to see who is in your swap group. Please plan to make your pins the roughly same (think of a card swap). If you would like to swap additional pins, please note in the event that you are doing multiple. This will only really be an option if we have enough people.

4. I'll be updating the event on the Facebook page as the time nears with specific meet up days, times and locations.

Here's a little inspiration! Make your pins unique to you. I love to garden so most of my experimental pins are like flowers.
